Music | EPIK HIGH & The Return Of Superman

Decided to update here a little bit despite of my busy IB life.

Recently I have an unhealthy obsession towards a Korean hip-hop band. (I have been really into K-pop nowadays haha)

Epik High (Hangul: 에픽하이) is a South Korean alternative hip-hop group from Seoul, composed of Tablo, Mithra Jin and DJ Tukutz. The group is known for combining different styles of hip hop, along with different musical genres and collaborations on each album.

Their latest album "Shoebox" has earned its first No. 1 on Billboard's World Albums chart, which is pretty damn impressive.

I was introduced to EPIK HIGH after watching a South Korean KBS reality-variety show called "The Return of Superman".

Celebrity dads are left to care for their kids alone for 48 hours without the help of anyone, while their wives leave the home to enjoy some relaxing time off.The wives are shown leaving the home before the 48 hours begins and coming back to greet their family once the 48 hours have ended. During the 48 hours the dads and children are either doing a task the wives have written out for the dads to complete or the dads exploring new activities with their kids. Occasionally celebrity friends of the dads will stop by to interact with the kids.

Haru, daughter of the leader of EPIK HIGH, Tablo is my favourite. Her obsession towards fish is just too cute. If you watch the episode from the beginning to the end you'll realise that their relationships are getting closer. Tablo is such a great dad as he has done such a good job raising a sweet, caring and cute daughter like Haru.

Her love towards Mulgogi (fish in Korean language)

She is an animal lover too.

She sings Taeyang's "Eyes, Nose, Lips" which makes me love her even more!

Andddd, how can I forget to mention that Haru is G-Dragon's No. 1 fangirl?!

and this, she just turn me into her biggest fan ever <3

I'm so sad for the fact that they are leaving the show right after I discovered them ;_;

seriously, how did she recite that impromptu mini poem about family just like that? Such a genius!

Life was hard for Tablo years ago when a controversy about his education in Stanford University. It was a shock to me as not many artists are able to study in such a prestigious institution.

Daniel Seon Woong Lee, better known in Korea as recording artist Tablo, graduated from Stanford with a seemingly uncontroversial record: two English degrees, a bachelor’s in 2001 and a master’s in 2002. But over the past six months, an Internet campaign has launched attacking Lee’s credentials and, he says, threatening him and his family.
Epik High, became aware of the allegations that he was not a Stanford graduate in March, when he began receiving threats to his Twitter account. The sources of the attacks were netizens–vocal participants in an online community–who question the validity of Lee’s Stanford degrees. An intervention from Stanford Registrar Tom Black and a letter from English professor Tobias Wolff did little to help stop the movement.

After knowing that Tablo has gone through all these, he gained my respect not only as an artist, but also as an individual as a whole. I'm so glad that he has a great family and a job that he is passionate about.

Talking about EPIK HIGH, my favourite songs from them are "Happy Ending", "Up", "Don't Hate Me" and "Born Hater".

They perform great live too!
